zotero does not show author+short title+page on subsequent citations

I'm using Turabian 9 style when I do a citation of the same author on the same page, it does not give the short title.
When I do these citations, I hit the Add/Edit Citation, In the popup, I click the book and enter the page, but I expect the short title too. What am I not selecting or is this a problem?

    In Zotero Document Preferences is "Automatically update citations" unchecked? If so, this is the expected behaviour. Your citations will update when you press Refresh in the Zotero tab.

    The automatically update citations box is checked.
    The expected result is author + short title + page.
    If I leave out the page, I sometimes get the author and short title, and sometimes I get just the author.

    I saw your post. Which variant of Chicago is the one you speak of. My university will not accept the author+page footnote so I need the short title. It would be nice since if the the short title could be an additional selection along with page. You said in your post that the short title would appear later. Three pages later and I still only see author+page.
