What's with the CrossRef info?

I used to sort by # of citations, but that plug-in (Citations Count Manager) isn't compatible with the newest update (I use a Mac). I used this frequently to get a sense of which articles had the most impact. I see there is CrossRef info in the Notes field, but what does the date refer to? Does it ever update?

    In the Notes field, here's an example:

    22 citations (Crossref/DOI) [2024-03-07]

    That date doesn't match either the date of the article (it's about 2 years after) or the date I added it (a few months after it was published). I never use that field, so whatever's there is coming in with the import or is being added by virtue of the DOI, presumably.

    What's the DOI, and how did you add it? What does it say in the Library Catalog field?

    Can you provide a Report ID?

    Some googling suggests this is likely added to Extra by an add-on -- zotero-cita perhaps, or zotero-references?
    It then adds up in bibtex note or annotation on export on gets re-imported as a note.

    Library Catalog field is: DOI.org (Crossref).

    I agree with @adamsmith, although the only plug-in I have/had is the citations count manager. It's not an error per se (and it may have been doing this forever; I just never had reason to look at the Extra field). Usually I'm bringing articles in from the journal website (via my library's access with EBSCOhost).

    Does anyone have the Citation Count Manager working on a Mac (ie, is the incompatibility a Mac issue? That's my suspicion, since I *just* got rolled over to Zotero 7).

    There is a forked version of Citation Counts Manager for Zotero 7 but it only reached beta prerelease (in 2023). The posted Issues suggest it may have some problems working in the most recent iterations of v7.
