online journal- encyclopaedia

Hi, i am wondering if i can add to zotero an online journal which is like a database and encyclopaedia of different genes involved in cancer, specifically, it is the atlas of genetics and cytogenetics in oncology and haematology.

It is not just "like a database", I think that's exactly what it is :-)

    Example: https://atlasgeneticsoncology.org/haematological/2053/t(3;13)(q27;q14)

Right now it seems to be captured as web page without much metadata. I suppose one could write an import translator to improve things a little bit - saving the date and the authors of a record should be easy enough.
I'm curious about the use case: is it a common practice to cite these records, or do researchers prefer to cite the original publications (recorded as one or more Pubmed links), which have their own metadata?
  • yes it does have the authors i guess i could write it manually?
That is what i am wondering if i am even allowed to cite this, I am currently doing a masters dissertation so i guess i have to ask. Thank you

Oh, I see - so the question is not whether Zotero can support this technically, but whether it is correct to cite this in principle?

There are various possible answers depending on who you ask - you should definitely ask your supervisor first and foremost. Have you?

Anyway, if you site these records, you should certainly include the author names, publication dates, titles, URLs and time of consultation.

The missing authors on import is one thing. Just add them manually.
The other thing is if you'd actually want to cite this.
I personally would cite the linked published paper where these findings are described instead of this database entry.
