Chicago 17 author-date creating wrong in-text for one reference

Hello

I have an existing document that I originally started with the Cite them right Harvard and then changed to Chicago 17 author-date. The in-text citations for 2 authors appeared accurate as it used their last names and the date.

However, when I cited my publications it used my full name as the first author and kept the last name of the second author. I tested another paper and it showed the correct format.

I created a new document to test it and it shows the proper format in the new document.

The following images show my tests. Image with the asterisks is the referencing used in my existing document. "New document" image shows the correct style.

I will be very grateful for any solutions to this problem as I am currently working on writing my PhD thesis and papers.

Thanks in advance to those who assist me.

  • Hello,
I am currently having the same problem while writing my thesis. I will et you know if I fix the problem before we hear back.
    Thanks
  • This is most likely an attempt at disambiguating the author name (and Id guess die to inconsistent name entry). We'd have to see the full bibliography section for Rameshwar for the old document to say more
  • Thanks everyone for the prompt responses.

This is the reference from the old document as requested.

  • Yeah, see the Rameshwar and King 2020 reference? You have your name entered at Jason R. instead of Jason Robert for that one, so the citation style treats them as different authors. Fix this and both in-text and bibliography will look right.
  • Thank you so very much adamsmith.

You saved me hours of frustration and worry.
