@warguelles: That actually wasn't us — ScienceDirect seems to have somewhat relaxed their anti-bot measures. So this will hopefully now be fixed for everyone, including people not on the beta.
We did, however, just make major improvements to attachment saving in the beta that were specifically intended to fix this (and similar problems). And they'll still help if ScienceDirect restores these measures in the future.
For now, these changes from ScienceDirect will still fix various situations where files are saved within the Zotero app, such as when using Add Item by Identifier.
@dstillman. Hi, great to see recent action on this front. @warguelles comment left me hopeful that this has been solved, and in my case it's partially solved: can now successfully import a science direct PDF (after clicking View PDF from the article listing), but still can't import from the article listing page. That's great progress, one extra click I can totally live with. Thanks.
In case you still want to fix the import from article listing, here are the details.
Installed 7.1-beta.28+d74db17cf, (Safari 18.2; macos 15.2). Deselected the old Zotero Connector in Safari's Extensions preference pane (I renamed my old copy of Zotero) and activated the new one (5.0.164). Restarted Safari for good measure. Same problem when trying to import from science direct article listing (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0952197625007067):
Hi folks, in case it's useful -- just now I ran the Find Full Text command on multiple records, including 3 from Journal of Clinical Epidemiology (published by Elsevier). I got lots of captchas -- more than five I think -- I missed the first one because I was typing in another window. I checked the box in all the others. Only one of the Journal of Clinical Epi pdfs actually showed up. Or, on the other hand, one of the JCE PDFs showed up! I'm not in the beta -- I'm using 7.0.15.
I get this image and click the checkbox (no other challenge is shown). After a few seconds, the same pop-up shows again. I repeat the steps several times until the new pop-ups no longer appear (4 times). Unfortunately, no file is loaded to Zotero.

No captchas ever seen on my end.
What information from me would be helpful? Other steps I should have done that I didn't? Thank you.
PS. Same with 7.1-beta.30 (has same connector version)

When I click in Zotero in the context menu on "find fulltext," I see this:

Same problem as @zotteee, the captcha does not go away, keeps popping up.
