Audio on iOS and ipadOS can’t play in background

I wish I could play audio in the background on iOS and iPad. My iPhone only plays audio if I keep the app open and my phone awake. I’ve found a workaround on iPad by using multiple zotero windows, but that only lets me play audio while looking at another zotero page. The sound still stops if I navigate away.
