Screen reader: Item view indicates items are collapsed when they are not
Here's the user task that shows the problem.
"I am using NVDA or JAWS and reviewing items in a collection. When I go to the list of items, the screen reader announces that some of them are 'collapsed'. However, they do not have any attachment or notes. It is confusing. Eventually, I ask my sighted colleagues and tell me that the item can't be opened".
If a video is needed to show the problem, I have a file that I can provide.

abaevbogThank you for the report. In the latest Beta, this should be fixed. I now hear "collapsed/expanded" (NVDA) or "closed/open" (JAWS) only on top level container rows that can actually be expanded or collapsed. Rows that cannot be expanded (either child rows or top-level rows without children) do not have that announcement. Can you confirm this is behaving as expected on your end as well?

Mark WI don't have the beta installed. I'm under the impression that if I have the beta installed, I won't be able to use the current version. And I need it for my research projects. Perhaps my impression is incorrect though.
-
dstillmanThat's incorrect. You can switch back and forth between the current beta and release version. And you can try the ZIP version of the beta without uninstalling the release version.
-
AbeJellinekThere's no issue with switching back and forth between the beta and the release version. Use the ZIP instead of the installer if you don't want it to overwrite your main install.

Mark WAre there instructions for the procedure posted anywhere?

Mark WThanks. I tried the beta with JAWS. I tried a few items. I didn't notice the problem anymore.

abaevbogGreat! Thank you for confirming that.
