Any automated way to recover missing library items?
Whilst going through my `../storage/..` folders in an attempt to optimise storage size, I started discovering I have a lot of storage folders (along with the PDF in the folder) that do not exist in my Library.
I now realise I have around 2400 PDFs and only ~1500 items in my library.
As I typically have only one PDF per library item, this has got me thinking a LOT of entries in my library are missing. Nearly 1000 of them.
This is very concerning.
With this in mind, I have a couple of questions:
1. Is there anything in particular that's most likely to result in such a significant data loss from the DB?
2. Is there anything anyone can suggest for automating the process of re-importing these items into my library? Obviously I've lost all the metadata that would normally accompany each item when it was originally imported to the library (from online science journals, etc.), but at least having the PDF back in the library would be an acceptable compromise at this stage.
Thank you.

They seemed like two different enquiries / topics to me, but I'm happy to deal with this in the same thread if that's easier for you and others.
