Citations not merging

I am struggling to get my citations to merge when I am using the Zotero word plug-in. They are coming up individually e.g. (4)(5)(6), rather than (4)-(6) as I would expect?
I have tried re-installing word/ Zotero, updating them both and changing the citation form. Thank you for any suggestions.

    Currently AMA 11th edition, but happy to change if it fixes it. Ideally want citations to be with superscript numbers.

    Does changing the citation format work? (because AMA style isn't in parentheses). Have you tried clicking refresh?
    Do note that while this should work, the standard way of entering groups of citations is to enter them together via the Word add-on

    Found a good solution!
    For getting merged citations - Vancouver (superscript) works well
    Second look for ghost citations (those that you may have deleted)
    If at any point you have manually edited the bibliography, citations wont merge in that case you need to "revert all" in the edit bibliography pane.
    I was struggling and it worked beautifully!
