Question About Managing Group Libraries

Hi everyone,

First off, huge thanks to the Zotero team and community — I’ve been using Zotero for a while now, and it’s been incredibly helpful for organizing my research.

I’m currently setting up a group library for a collaborative project and had a quick question:
Is there a way to prevent items in the group library from duplicating what's already in my personal library? Or is there a best practice for managing overlap between personal and group collections?

Would really appreciate any tips or suggestions!

    Not really, no. Various versions of this questions have come up and the current status quo is pretty unsatisfactory: there is visible/usable linkage between items in group and individual libraries nor any form of sync (i.e. if you change metadata in one place you can't update it easily in the other). Worse, you can't drag the same item from your personal to your group library twice (e.g. to update it).

    Zotero devs know this very much isn't ideal, but I'm not sure if there are any imminent improvements.
