Incorrect styling bibliography with Libreoffice Linux

Report ID: 2058257730

When creating a bibliography from cited articles using the "Add/Edit Bibliography" button in Libreoffice, the text exceeds the boundaries of the page.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Start Zotero and open Libreoffice.
2. Open a document in Libreoffice which contains Zotero references
3. Create a bibliography using the "Add/Edit Bibliography" button

  • What version of LibreOffice do you have installed? Is it from the official LibreOffice website/packages, or a custom bundle from your distro?
  • I have the following snap version of libreoffice installed: 24.8.6.2, following the latest/stable channel.

    I am running Ubuntu 24.10.

  • What version of Java are you using in LibreOffice? Does this happen with every citation style and regardless of which items you cite? Could you produce a Debug ID reproducing this bug in a new doc?
  • LibreOffice is using the Java version provided by snap, which is java-21-openjdk-amd64.

I tried adding references and a reference list, using the same reference style, to a new document, which does not appear to be affected by the bug.

    Debug ID, new document: D2081225231
    Debug ID, old document: D60324134

After this, I changed the reference style in the old document. This fixed the problem of the text overflowing the page. The problem did not reappear after switching back to my desired citation style.

However, the reference list still appears to be outside the boundaries of the box that normally contains the references (see image, only in the old document).

  • Remove the bibliography from the document completely and reinsert it.
  • Solved! Thank you for the guidance!
