Here is what I tried to do:
1. Remove all data and files from the cloud library using the 'Purge Storage in My Library'
2. Syncing the current content of the local 'My Library' to my Zotero cloud storage (data and files). Set up Syncing in my local Zotero client:
After entering Username and password, select (in Settings):
- 'My Library and Feeds' in 'Choose Library',
- 'Sync automatically'
- 'Sync full-text content'
- 'Sync attachment files in My Library using 'Zotero'
- Download files 'at sync time'
- Sync attachment files in group libraries using Zotero storage
- Download files 'at sync time'
- Library 'My Library'
- Replace Online Library
  • Everything worked out finally. It was just a matter of time.

    Just to note, "Purge Storage in My Library" doesn't have anything to do with data. As it says below that button, "Use this to free up space for group libraries you own after disabling file syncing for My Library or switching to WebDAV storage."

    All those other settings are enabled by default.

    The only thing relevant here is Replace Online Library. You would use that after restoring from an older backup when you don't want to sync down more recent changes (e.g., deletions) you've made.
