Zotero 7 cannot recognize one particular DOI

Hi,

I am using Zotero 7.0.11 on macOS 17.7.4 and I cannot add one specific item using Zotero's identifier.

The DOI is https://doi.org/10.34769/azkm-y326. It can be resolved on https://dx.doi.org.

Is there anything that I could do to make it work? Thx.

Patrick
  • I believe the issue is that Zotero looks for DOIs at CROSSREF database, but this one is not registered on it (https://search.crossref.org/?from_ui=&q=10.34769/azkm-y326).
But you can add the item with the Zotero Connector extension

This DOI is managed by Datacite, not by Crossref. And unfortunately, the publisher has decided to resolve the DOI directly to the PDF so you need some extra work to find the metadata.

    https://bibliotekanauki.pl/articles/1831402 should do the trick.

[Thanks for the complement about Zotero's support for Datacite. It's more subtle than I thought]

None of the above is quite right: Zotero tries a number of different registration agencies for DOIs, very much including Datacite. And while resolving directly to the PDF is bad practice, it doesn't prevent Zotero from getting the metadata.

The problem here is that the metadata only includes the translated title, not the original title, and Zotero expects the original title and import fails for items without any title. We can probably make this work, though they should fix their metadata, too.

    Ticket here: https://github.com/zotero/translators/issues/3435
  • @patrickgao: Fixed. Your Zotero translators should auto-update within a few minutes, or you can update translators manually from the Advanced pane of the Zotero settings.
