Group library restoration issue

Hello,

We're facing a major issue at the institution where I work. Last week (03-13), one of our colleagues accidentally deleted all the data from one of our group libraries (21,189 documents...) and then initiated synchronization. We had (and still have) a local backup of this data, so we followed the tutorials available in the documentation to reimport the data locally and then launched the restoration using "Replace online library" in the synchronization options (https://docs.zotero-fr.org/zotero_data/). Nevertheless, after multiple attempts (we've lost count) since the beginning of this week, the restoration isn't working. On one hand (which concerns us the most), all documents present locally (21,189) are not present online (20,462). The same applies to the library trash (+400 locally, +100 online). Finally, files that are locally attached as attachments to documents are detached and placed in the trash in the online library (we think this might be a space issue; we don't need these files, but I prefer to explain all the problems in case it gives you ideas).

We've tried to manage on our own until now, but we really have no more ideas to fix this error... The situation is quite serious, as other departments in the institution use this group library (the publishing department, numerous laboratories, auxiliary digital libraries, etc.).

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and for any advice you can provide.
Have a nice day!
  • Just to be clear -- you didn't actually 'reimport' the library, right? You restored by replacing the zotero.sqlite?
  • Dear Adamsmith
Right, our last action was restored by replacing the zotero.sqlite
  • Replace Online Library should produce the same state online that you have locally. If that's not the case, we'd want specific examples (here or in an email to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread) and a Debug ID for running Replace Online Library.
  • Hello,
We resolved the problem (without knowing too much about the details of how) using Zotero beta.
Thank you for taking the time to respond to us. Have a good day.
