How to save a search in "Everything"

When I select "Everything" in the quick search field, like so:

I get results that I would like to save as a saved search.

My understanding is that the way to save a search is to use the "Advanced Search" window and hit the "Save Search" button:

The problem is that there is no "Everything" option in that window, so I'm wondering whether there is any way of replicating my search in "Everything" in the Advanced Search Window (in order to save it).

I have tried "Any Field", but it does not yield any results, so I'm guessing that it is not synonymous to "Everything".
  • “Everything” - matches against all fields, tags, text in notes, and indexed text in PDFs

So you probably need to add that your search matches any of these:

  • Thanks for explaining the meaning of "Everything". Based on that, your suggestions makes sense (though it would obviously be nice to have the "everything" option also in advanced search).

Unfortunately, the result is not as expected:

Searching for the exact same term in Fields, Tags, Notes, and Attachment Content yields zero results (while in quicksearch in "everything", it yields 46 items.

I guess this must be a bug, then...?
  • And if you remove the quotation marks from your search?
  • Ha! Removing the quotation marks yields the same results as quick search with quotation marks. - Very confusing.

So, advanced search is using quite a different search logic than quick search and is not so advanced after all, in that it takes everything as a phrase. Which means that if you actually want to search for two terms (not a two-word phrase), you have to put each word on a separate query line. And if you want to search for those two words in "Everything", that means you have to combine eight query-lines...
