Increase in number of articles over night.

Hi there
I am conducting a scoping review and transferred 10k+ articles in to Zotero. I then have to remove duplicate items. I also then have to place in to different subfolders on Zotero. However, does anyone experience article items going up or down over night within there respected folder of its own accord ? Which completely messes everything up?

Do you have View\Show Items From Subcollections turned ON ? In which case adding/removing new items in (other) subcollections would have changed the number of items appearing in parent collections (such that you might have thought that the number of items actually *in* those parent collections had changed since you last looked at them). Turn that OFF if that's not what you want.
  • Hi there
Thanks for this. Were do I turn that off, as in how ? Could you show me a step by step guide to do so ?

If it's ON then Show Items From Subcollections will have a tick mark next to it in the View menu. Click on it to turn it OFF.
If it was *already* OFF then obviously there's a different explanation for what you saw.

  • It’s already off. I don’t know what’s going on? Is it best to use the app or the web browser version ? It’s becoming really difficult at present to sort anything out?
  • Is there someone who works at Zotero who could help as lost hours and hours of time. As a PhD student I need this issue rectified. Thanks
  • Is it best to use the app or the web browser version ?
    The desktop app.

Could you be more specific about what you're seeing change overnight? Do you mean that it just seems like the number of items in the collection is changing? Or are you missing specific items?

And are you using Zotero on multiple devices?
