  • You are lucky, that it's just this one pdf....
This is my GUI as of today, also after new install with a new download:

  • (Please start new threads for new issues — the thread you posted to isn't related. I've moved this to a new thread.)

What OS? Can you provide a Report ID? Does it happen in Troubleshooting Mode (Help → "Restart in Troubleshooting Mode…”)?
  • On OpenSuse Aeon. Unfortunately no Report ID, since my error report window also looks like this:
    https://s3.amazonaws.com/zotero.org/images/forums/u10972091/080kuyc5q5hrypxz7ar9.png

But I sent the report exactly 7min ago, if this helps.
It also happens in Troubleshooting mode.
Steps to reproduce: Download the latest version, install and start the application.
The binaries are located in ~/.local/bin/Zotero_linux-x86_64, and the desktop file is linked to ~/.local/share/applications/zotero.desktop

It perfectly worked a few days ago, and was in use on this OS and configuration for months, without any problem.

Is there anything more that I could provide to help with this?
  • Do you see the same thing with Zotero 7.0.13? That would've been the current version before last week.

If so, I'm afraid you'll need to debug this yourself. It'd be something with system fonts or your graphics driver.
  • Yes, it was the same, and the problem was indeed resolved after rolling back to an earlier system snapshot. So it was some kind of a system problem, not on Zotero's side. It was the only app behaving like that, thus my message here.
Thanks for the quick help and sorry for the false alarm.
  • Just a quick follow-up for everyone, who finds this thread due to the same problem. On the same day, where this problem occured, I got an upgrade from Gnome 47 to Gnome 48, with one of the new features being a new system font. Due to my distro's way of handling software, Zotero was the only non-flatpak software at this point. That's maybe a starting point for your personal debugging. Now, a few days after the initial release, there's no problem anymore on my system and Zotero works as expected for me.
