Local storage

Hi all, I am in several project groups, and I just realized that one of them has a huge library that I unfortunately synced with my local PC. My Zotero storage folder is about 20 GB. I removed that group from my sync and changed download to "as needed" and reset my sync history. Can I safely remove the PDF files from my local storage without them being removed from the group? I checked the forum, and I see in 2021 that a tool to reduce the local storage was planned, but I don't know if it is available in Zotero 7.

    If all your own files are online, your best bet is just to do a search for all the .pdf files within your Zotero data directory and delete them outside of Zotero. Zotero will redownload them as needed.

    Don't delete anything from within Zotero — that will affect others.

    (In a future version, unchecking a group from syncing will remove its data and files locally, but that feature doesn't work that way now.)
