Zotero connector not doing anything

Hello.

I am trying the zero connector for the first time to try to save a website URL to my zotero library. I have read the article at https://www.zotero.org/support/adding_items_to_zotero#via_your_web_browser

I navigate to the github page and the little zero connector icon turns into the grey webpage icon. I click on it, and nothing happens. Nothing appears in my open desktop zotero library, and if I am logged into my zotero account and look at the library there, nothing happens either.

What is supposed to happen when I click on the button? Do I have to do something to activate the link between the connector and zotero desktop. For reference, I have installed the connector just now, months after installing the zotero desktop. Maybe hty are not communicating?

    What does it say when you hover over the save button?

    Somehow it started working and recognized that it was a github site. Not sure what happened in the middle. Edge did an automatic sync of the browser plugins from home to work (since I installed zotero connector at home, but my profiles are setup to sync) and it started working at work after a few tries. At first, the hover tip said "Save To Zotero" and the generic web page one, but after a few tries it changed to a github specific one.
