Change of style deletes reference library

Hi all, I created a whitepaper with 50+ references I'm getting ready to publish and when trying to change the style of the references library it barely shows 13 citations. Any ideas why this is happening?

You mean it's deleting your bibliography in the document? (Not your "reference library" — that's what's in Zotero itself.)

See Existing Citations Not Detected. Most likely you flattened the document by mistake.
  • Most likely: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/existing_citations_not_detected

You'll need to figure out why it happened to avoid it in the future. You can use an old copy of the file or otherwise will have to reinsert the missing citations.
  • Yes, when changing into a different style the bibliography is incomplete. It looks like all the citations are active. I tried with an older version and I can change the style without any issues, weird thing is that the newest version is just a copy of the document.

The linked page explains how to check whether they're active — if you think they are, say exactly what you're doing to check.

Just copying the file wouldn't do this, but as the page explains, saving it in a different format or opening it with a different tool would do it.
