Assistance Needed with Editing European Heart Journal CSL File

Dear Zotero Community,

I am experiencing difficulties editing the Citation Style Language (CSL) file for the European Heart Journal. Specifically, I am unable to make the necessary modifications using both the Visual CSL Editor and the Zotero Style Editor. Despite my efforts, the changes do not seem to apply correctly.

I would greatly appreciate any guidance or suggestions on how to resolve this issue.

Thank you for your assistance.
  • Could you say a bit more? What exactly isn't working? Are you getting the correct output in the style editor but then are unable to import the style or something else?
  • Thank you so much for your reply, I just want to edit the existing CSL file for the European Heart Journal, to edit the number of authors as a maximum of 6 persons. But it is not editable both in CSL editor and zotero editor. Therefore, I would like to know is there any other methods to edit the style file?
  • Ah -- the style is just a link to the European Society of Cardiology style (https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=id:european-society-of-cardiology ) edit that instead.
  • Is this generally wrong for the style though? Because we'd want that fixed for all users.
  • looks like it.
If there are more than six authors, the first six authors should be listed followed by ‘et al.’.

only question is if this applies to all ESC styles
  • Yes, minus "Cardiovascular Research" which wants all authors.
  • Thank you so much!!! It works! The "European Society of Cardiology" style is editable, and I could edit its CSL style file in the CSL editor and edit the number of authors. I think there is something wrong with the "European Heart Journal" style file. Other style files could also be edited.
  • Nothing is wrong with that. It's a dependent style that just points to the parent, so it's not a proper style that can be edited, hence you running into a wall.
