MLA - Underlining titles and Title Caps

Wondering if Zotero will include the MLA style that underlines titles, rather then use italics and also include capitalization of main words in Titles. ...or if there is a way around this?
  • Why do you want underlines instead of italic? Underlining is a product of an era of typewriters, and I understand is now (finally!) discouraged by MLA.

On the second part, are you referring to examples where Zotero is automatically capitalizing a title and sneds up doing something like "The united states senate"?
  • MLA underline style exists (it is not included as a default style for reasons Bruce outlines above): http://www.zotero.org/styles/mla-underline/dev

On titles, see this discussion: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/5163/capitalization-in-chicago-15/#Item_5

    bdarcus,

no one asked for your opinion, they asked for specific help.

FYI, many graduate schools require "archaic" underlining simply because it is easier to copy to microfiche.

Also, for those in the research world, finding headings while reading scores of theses and dissertations is helpful, whereas trying to find a italicized text within a paragraph is a visual challenge.

    No offense mate!

And surprisingly, no one asked for yours (no offense mate!).

FYI, bdarcus is the main developer of the Citation Style Language (which is used for all Zotero styles), and he himself introduced support for underlining: http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/xbiblio/changeset/282

Of course you meant offense; that was the point of your post. And yes, I take offense.

I was mainly asking because sometimes people are working with old information about MLA rules, and so incorrectly assuming titles should be underlined.

As for archaic grad school rules, am just generally of the opinion to promote the idea they ought to be changed.

... and with the comment "(ugh)" in the message line to the patch, no less! (Anyway, the original question was asked and answered by erazlogo, all finished here.)
