PDF Numbers Wrong in Annotations

I have a new issue that has come up with annotations of scanned pdfs. The scanned page from a book has two facing pages, which zotero reads fine when highlighting (not reading across both columns) but the page note number treats it as one page (you can see in the attached screenshot -- the 4th note says page 2 when it should say 3). This has only just started happening with all scanned pages and it doesn't correct itself for future pages when I edit the page number -- it continues to read the whole book as one page instead of two. This is causing me to waste a tremendous amount of time editing each page number, which defeats the purpose of the annotation section. I've tried fixing the pdf in adobe but I'm not sure if the problem is there on in zotero. I have used scanned book pdfs for years with no issues. Thanks for any help.

  • Since you mentioned that this is a new issue, could you explain how it worked before?

Zotero used to recognize the correct page number on the facing page and didn't treat two pages as one. I've attached a screenshot from a pdf from a month ago which recognized the correct pages. Now when I try to annotate the same document, it only recognizes one page (see screenshot where both citations say page 188 when one should be 189)

  • You can send the PDF with the correct page labels to support@zotero.org along with a link to this thread.

However, I’m not sure how you previously had the correct labels without manually setting them. Which Zotero version supported this? Zotero 6?
