publication titles from Web of Science - ALL CAPITCAL CASE

edited 29 days ago
Publication titles of references I downloaded from WoS and transfer into zotero are all title case. I need to switch them one by one, which takes a lot of time.

However, I ask for help from WoS, they told me it's the zotero do not fit. An aligning procedure is not settled in zotero, but not the case with Endnote. So, this won't be a problem for endnote user.

Do you have any suggestion?

Thank you!
  • How exactly are you adding the items to Zotero? If you add them using the Zotero Connector in your browser, title casing will be automatically cleaned up.

If you are downloading a RIS file or similar from Web of Science and importing that, casing won’t be changed because Zotero doesn’t know where the file comes from and can’t determine whether casing is intentional or not.

This is wierd. I've never used Zotero Connector.

I usually use RIS or CIW file from Web of Science. It's always CAPITAL CASE. I felt desperate about that.

Thank you for educating me about the Zotero Connector. A much better choice for adding citation item. Thank you!

STILL, the problem remains. all files' publication titles, either from online fetching or from downloading files, are CAPITAL CASE.
  • Am I the only one encountering this problem?
  • No, I saw this too -- it looks like WoS is storing all publicatinos (books, journals) in all caps -- no idea why.
  • Does this feature affect you on referencing? Since APA style requires Publication by "Title Case" type, I wonder how do you guys manage that?
  • and again, thank you for replying to me. Really makes me feel a lot better. Thank you.
