Web version of zotero group loads with only automatic tags showing by default
I'm hoping someone can help me with an annoying little issue I'm having...
I have a public zotero group I use to gather and categorise paper records relevant to my field, so that it can be used as a resource for others to spin up quickly on the subject area. It has a lot of quite specific tags in it which I have made manually, so that users can easily filter to whatever specific subdomain they want to spin up on.
This is all great and people are finding the group helpful, except that when I or anyone else loads the web browser version of the group library, the "Show Automatic" option in the tag menu is on by default, hiding all my manual tags. This means that there are very few tags visible and the manual tagging I have done isn't available to users of the library. For anyone not familiar with zotero, it's not obvious that there are more tags that are hidden, and they won't know how to make all the tags visible by unchecking "Show Automatic", since it's hidden in a not very obvious menu.
So my questions are: why is "Show Automatic" on by default in the web version, and how do I change it to be off by default?
Can anyone shed any light on this for me? Thanks in advance!

There's an issue where recently created tags are sorting to the top, so that might be what you're seeing? We'll have a fix for that soon.
In any case, no, it's not currently possible to set persistent settings for the web library that apply to others.
When I first load the page, this is what I see in the tags (far less than there should be):
https://s3.amazonaws.com/zotero.org/images/forums/u15173564/tbhb8a0k7y94r7homc4h.png
And you can see that Show Automatic is ticked:

Then if I untick it I see all the tags:

Although I do note that if I tick it again all the tags remain visible...
I've asked a colleague to check this too and she had the same experience. If I refresh the page, it goes back to how it looks in the first image with all the tags missing.
Unticking "Show Automatic" changes how tags are handled by the web library, so unticking and then ticking it again might work as a workaround in this scenario. However, this shouldn't happen—you should see exactly the same set of tags when first loading the page.
Is your group public and open for anyone to read? If so, it would be helpful to get a link so we can try to reproduce the problem ourselves (you can post it here or send it to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread).
I use Chrome by default. I checked Firefox and Safari as well, and I get the same behaviour.
Thanks for your help on this!
In the meantime, as a workaround, you will need to tick and then untick "Show Automatic" to trick the web library into loading the remaining tags (only in this library) - sorry about that!
