Style update for dataset in American Meteorological Society style

Item "dataset" is not correctly rendered in the American Meteorological Society style (updated 27 June 2019).

Current format:
Knutti, R., 2014: IPCC Working Group I AR5 snapshot: The rcp85 experiment. https://doi.org/10.1594/WDCC/ETHR8.

Expected format:
Knutti, R., 2014: IPCC Working Group I AR5 snapshot: The rcp85 experiment. DKRZ World Data Center for Climate, accessed 14 October 2014, https://doi.org/10.1594/WDCC/ETHR8.

Link to the guidelines: https://www.ametsoc.org/ams/publications/author-information/formatting-and-manuscript-components/references/ (updated 28 July 2022)

  • Thanks for the report and for getting all the right information together.
I completely overhauled the style to make it more robust. Please test it out and let me know if you find any other issues:

    Thank you very much for the quick action. ̶H̶o̶w̶e̶v̶e̶r̶,̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶a̶c̶c̶e̶s̶s̶ ̶d̶a̶t̶e̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶m̶i̶s̶s̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶(̶I̶ ̶g̶u̶e̶s̶s̶ ̶i̶t̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶b̶e̶c̶a̶u̶s̶e̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶c̶o̶n̶d̶i̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶"̶a̶c̶c̶e̶s̶s̶"̶ ̶m̶a̶c̶r̶o̶,̶ ̶w̶h̶e̶n̶ ̶a̶ ̶D̶O̶I̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶p̶r̶e̶s̶e̶n̶t̶)̶:̶

Edit: The format is correct if I remove the DOI and edit the URL field to be "https://doi.org/10.1594/WDCC/ETHR8" instead of "http://cera-www.dkrz.de/WDCC/ui/Compact.jsp?acronym=ETHr8" which was grabbed from DOI.org (Datacite) I guess (I used the magic wand to retrieve the item). I then get:

Knutti, R., 2014: IPCC Working Group I AR5 snapshot: The rcp85 experiment. DKRZ World Data Center for Climate, accessed 3 March 2025, https://doi.org/10.1594/WDCC/ETHR8.
  • I get a slightly different format, but I guess it is possible to modify the item to get the expected output. I will try to illustrate what I mean. I get the information from the Zotero magic wand using the DOI (10.1594/WDCC/ETHR8). Here is the snapshot of the item:

Note both the DOI and URL fields are populated (10.1594/WDCC/ETHR8 and http://cera-www.dkrz.de/WDCC/ui/Compact.jsp?acronym=ETHr8 respectively). The style picks the URL field up and gives:
Knutti, R., 2014: IPCC Working Group I AR5 snapshot: The rcp85 experiment. DKRZ World Data Center for Climate, accessed 3 March 2025, http://cera-www.dkrz.de/WDCC/ui/Compact.jsp?acronym=ETHr8.
    While the DOI is expected.

But as I said above, if I modify the URL to become https://doi.org/10.1594/WDCC/ETHR8, it displays the expected output with the DOI. The item is now:

    Which gives:
Knutti, R., 2014: IPCC Working Group I AR5 snapshot: The rcp85 experiment. DKRZ World Data Center for Climate, accessed 3 March 2025, https://doi.org/10.1594/WDCC/ETHR8.
Or even better, from the translator on the webpage (https://www.wdc-climate.de/ui/entry?acronym=ETHr8), I get (the incorrect year aside):

    Which gives:
Knutti, R., 2013: IPCC Working Group I AR5 snapshot: The rcp85 experiment. World Data Center for Climate (WDCC) at DKRZ, accessed 4 March 2025, https://doi.org/10.1594/WDCC/ETHr8.
So for me it looks fine. Thanks a lot.
