Deleted pre-loaded citation styles keep reappearing

Hi All,

I like to have, and only use, a handful of citation styles, and the default ones that are loaded in zotero, 90% of which I never use.

So it's been a few times that I have removed many of the pre-loaded styles, but at some point they reappear. I am not sure, but this might be caused by the software update. Is it possible to prevent this from happening?

Thank you!
  • I don't think so, no, the default styles can't be uninstalled.

Then why does the software let you delete them? Should I just write a script that deletes them automatically from the system folder after an update?
  • It's not particularly intentional — it's just a side effect of how the style installation/update system works. There's a set of default styles that are bundled with the app and that get installed/updated on an app update, so if one is missing, it gets reinstalled. This hasn't been a common-enough request for us to build in additional functionality to remember which bundled styles have been explicitly deleted by the user, but we have an open ticket for it.
  • Thanks for the clarification. Could you please tell me in which folder are the styles stored?
    thanks
