Feature request: Shortcut keys to format text in title field (e.g. Ctrl+I for italics tags)
Hi all,
Thoughts on this idea?
The item title field in the metadata overview can listen for standard text-formatting shortcut keys to insert relevant tags around selected text (or at cursor position)? e.g.
Ctrl+i:
Ctrl+b:
etc.
If text is selected in the box, then pressing the shortcut will enclose the selected text in the tags.
Why this suggestion? Scientific names in titles are common in papers involving plants (including herbal medicine). Zotero often recognises italic text automatically when pulling metadata from the internet, but not always (or the articles themselves have missed it).
Justification: Shortcut key for tags would be a lot faster than typing the tags manually, and less error-prone (possibly also intuitive/discoverable matching word processors).
I imagine this feature would be relatively easy to implement.
Thanks for considering,
Jason

It's good to hear such functionality is planned for core Zotero.
