Zotero highlights disappeared when reopening the pdf

i've read a 200 page report and reopened the app to re-view the pdf and all the highlights have gone. I have sync on etc., and haven't got the pdf saved elsewhere. Please help!

    How exactly did you notice that the annotation disappeared? Are you absolutely sure there isn't another copy of this PDF file in your library?

    No highlights are there anymore! When i search for the report, the one i have been using is the only document there.

    1. Is this a group library or a personal library?
    2. When was the last time the annotations were present?
    3. Do you use Zotero on other devices or computers?
    4. Were these highlights created in Zotero or imported from a PDF file?

    1. it is a group library but i am the only one who uses it
    2. about an hour before, then the file closed and i had to reopen and they were gone
    3. only use zotero on one device
    4. highlights created in zotero

    Was it closed on purpose, or did something go wrong?

    No, i didn't intend to close it but it had closed for no apparent reason.
