PDF syncing across devices

I'm using PDF Expert on Mac, which should save annotations directly to the PDF file rather than as sidecar files. However, I'm still experiencing syncing issues:

1. I've tested multiple times by making annotations in PDF Expert
2. I've manually clicked the Sync button in Zotero after saving the changes
3. The modifications still don't sync to my other devices

    Opening /Users/[…]/Zotero/storage/2024/_/[…].pdf
    You're opening a linked file, which for some reason you've placed within the Zotero data directory.

    1) Linked files don't sync.

    2) The data directory is managed by Zotero, and you absolutely shouldn't be storing other files there.

    So if I use zotfile or attanger to "rename and move attachment", I can't sync these file by Zotero ?

    If you create linked files, yes. See the documentation section linked above.
