Zotero iPhone app - importing from web?
Hi
Being able to use Zotero from my phone is excellent. I can’t quite figure it out though
If I share a URL from the browser, it adds to Zotero, but only as a link. Is it possible to add so that Zotero takes a PDF of the webpage? (This is what happens in the browser extension on desktop)
And/or, if I go into the Zotero app, can I get it to import a copy of the page?
At the moment I have to separately save the webpage as a PDF, then go into Zotero and manually create an item, then attach the PDF
Same question for files. If there is a Word doc on a browser on iPhone I have to download, convert to PDF, then manually add via Zotero app. Can I get a Word doc straight into Zotero from a browser? Or if I make it a PDF, can Zotero app make an entry by importing the PDF (instead of I manually create the entry and add PDF after)?
Thank you

Primarily, the Zotero Connector on the desktop saves high-quality metadata for the page, and if there's an available PDF (e.g., for a journal article), it downloads that too. The share extension on iOS does the same. We may be able to add support for webpage-snapshot saving on iOS in a future version.
Saving something like a Word document directly to the app isn't a common thing, so I don't know that we've tested that. You might need to download it first and then attach it to an item.
In general, we'd want to see example URLs to say more.
Apologies, yes: I mean webpage snapshot. I was using ‘desktop’ to distinguish between using Chrome on my laptop vs Chrome on my iPhone
If the iOS app could have webpage snapshot in the future that would be great.
Or if it was possible to have the Zotero browser extension on mobile
Word: for whatever reason Federal Court judgments are Word not PDF. For example: https://www.judgments.fedcourt.gov.au/__data/assets/word_doc/0011/672374/2025FCA0067.docx?v=0.1.3
