Android Zotero 7 Accessing PDF articles linked with ZotMoov on Android App

I am using Zotero 7 with ZotMoov to store links to my files in a specific OneDrive folder called "Literature". I am using the beta version of the Zotero Android app. I want to be able to read PDFs on my mobile phone where I also have OneDrive installed. However, when I click on the article, it redirects to the website.

Is there a way to get this done?
  • No, the mobile apps only work with Stored files, synced through webDAV or Zotero

There are several "workarounds" that people use.

In order to use the Zotero mobile app, in Zotero desktop you could use Zotero's Convert Linked Files to Stored Files to temporarily move selected linked files *back* under Zotero\storage (Zotmoov has an equivalent right-click option). With file syncing turned ON, and as long as you are under your online file storage quota, the PDFs would be synced to the Zotero mobile app. After you have finished working with them, you would convert them back to linked files on your computer (eg using Zotmoov). Designating a collection for files being moved this way helps keep track of them.

If your PDF cloud folder is accessible on your mobile device, you can of course access PDFs in an *external* PDF reader there. Then when back on Zotero desktop you will see any added annotations in the Zotero reader. Those annotations will be locked; you can leave them that way, or import them in the usual way (File\Import Annotations).

To help automate that approach of syncing to an external PDF reader on mobile devices (for *either* linked-file or stored-file setups), Zotmoov recently added the option to create menu items for Send/Get from Tablet functionality (similar to what Zotfile had). It can also automate extraction of annotations to a Zotero note.
