Missing files from Zotero storage folder on my Mac
Hello,
I just changed Macbook after previous one died unexpectedly. I had my Zotero folder synced to Dropbox so I dowloaded it to my new Macbook and selected this folder as Data Directory. However, many files are not showing up in Zotero even if the PDF icon does appear next to the item title and I remember I had them in my previous MAC's Zotero. Furthermore, when I open the corresponding folder on my Drive I am finding that many folders are empty.
Can somebody help me identify what I did wrong and how I might be able to recover the files if I manage to fix my previous Mac? Is there any other way to recover them?
Thank you.

For actual Zotero file syncing, you're at your file storage quota, so no additional files would've synced to Zotero servers from the computer where they were added. Zotero would've been showing a warning about that on every sync. If you added a Zotero storage plan, you could sync the files from the computer where they were added:
