Highlighting in preprints - how to avoid line numbers

Is it possible to avoid highlighting line numbers (either for highlighting in place or for copy/paste) in preprint or rough manuscript PDFs? Like to mark a custom boundary on a PDF or something? This may be a tall order, but it seems like a useful feature.
  • We have plans to support selecting multiple text ranges while holding a modifier key. We could also consider implementing a column selection mode which already works on various macOS apps when holding Option key.
  • I have the same issue. I need to review a manuscript that looks like:

1 Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.
2 Sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua.
3 Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris nisi ut aliquip.
4 Ex ea commodo consequat. Duis aute irure dolor in reprehenderit in voluptate.
5 Velit esse cillum dolore eu fugiat nulla pariatur.

I would like to only select the text (not the line numbers). PDF viewers like Okular already do this.
  • @JohannesWiesner Do you mean that text in this specific file can be selected in Okular without numbers, but in Zotero it cannot?

If so please send the PDF file to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread.
  • @martynas_b Exactly. I can't send the original file but I'll try to come up with an example that reproduces the issue.
