Different collection show different columns

At present, all the collection columns are the same, but some collection are books, some collection are papers, may need to display different columns, if it is same, some columns may be has no practical significance, so I hope to add different collections display different columns
  • I second this suggestion. I would like to define a different set of columns to display based upon the item type.

For example, when I have a full book, I want to see different columns than a book section. For the section, I'm wanting to see the pages and short title in the listing, but for a book, I want to see the ISBN or edition.

I'd also like to be able to see the title of the book that the book section relates to, but that's not even an option at this time.

@benivere: That doesn't make sense. Columns by definition apply to all rows, and items of any number of different types can be shown in any given view, so there's no way you could have different columns based on the item type.

Having different columns in different collections, as @baileichao asked for, could be possible (though would be fairly annoying to manage, which is one reason we haven't done it), but that wouldn't have anything to do with item types unless you manually maintained collections based on item type or used a series of saved searches for specific item types.

Yes it is. "Book Title" is just "Publication".
