Zotero Not Adding Bibliography

I have repeatedly attempted to add the bibliography to my Word doc and keep receiving an error message, and of course no bibliography is added. I have tried everything. I have updated to Zotero 7.0, removed and reinstalled Chrome plugin, renewed my subscription and deleted much of my library to ensure space, checked the troubleshooting suggestions for Word that links to the error message, resaved a copy, restarted Zotero, Word, computer. Please help! I must add this reference list and submit this IRB.
  • Can you provide a Report ID after reproducing this?

If it works in a new document, though, you'd want to follow the full steps on Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents, which will by definition isolate the problem.

Hello: I started a completely new document, began adding all of the text. Inserted a few references. Tried to add the bibliography and same issue - error message, Zotero does not add the reference list.

I have used Zotero for many years and have never experienced this issue. As previously mentioned, I have updated to Zotero 7.0, renewed my subscription, deleted reference catalogues so that I have enough space, reinstalled Word plug in, etc.

    Very frustrating, please help.

    Thank you!

(Just to clarify, we never want duplicate threads for the same issue. I've merged your new post back to this thread.)
[JavaScript Error: "This method or property is not available because the object refers to a protected area of the document. [setBibliographyStyle:y:\zotero\word-for-windows-integration\build\zoterowinwordintegration\document.cpp]"]
Where is your cursor when you're clicking Add/Edit Bibliography?

Assuming it works for a single citation in a new document, you're likely copying in some unusual section from the previous document. The last step on the troubleshooting page explains how to isolate the section of the document that's causing the problem.
  • Hello, and thank you for the response. I started a completely new document. Did not copy and paste. Added a few intext references. Then on a separate blank page clicked "add/edit bibliography" and I received the same error message. Any other suggestions? Thank you.
  • What exact Word version?

    Have you customized Normal.dotm?

Are you trying this in some unusual editing mode in Word?

Do you have any other Word add-ins installed? If so, try disabling them.
