"add citation dialog" as next active window when adding a citation in libreoffice writer

Hello,

I am writing with Libreoffice Writer version 24.8.3.2 on Mac OS Sequoia 15.1.1 and Zotero 7.0.10.

When I want to add a citation from Zotero to my Writer document, Zotero's red "add citation" dialog bar opens. But it does not automatically become the active window. Instead, the Zotero main window becomes the active window.

As a consequence, before typing into the "add citation" search field, I need to mouse click into that field to make the window active.

What can I do to make the "add citation" dialog the active window from the start so that I can right away start typing my search in there without first having to click on it?

Thanks and best wishes!
  • PS: I am using multiple screens, if that might play a role.

I've got the same problem and it is really annoying. I've tried all kinds of shenanigans to prevent the main window from popping up, but nothing has worked.

Did you figure out a solution for this?

edit: just to add that I'm using one screen and Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS
  • Sorry, no, unfortunately no solution. However, the problem does not appear on my systems any longer (Mac, Win and Ubuntu). But I have updated all of them since, so I don't know what it was... Maybe reinstall the Zotero add-in for Libreoffice? (Sorry, not very creative as a recommendation, but what can we do? ;)
  • Ohh well everything is up-to-date so it must be whatever. I hope it gets fixed somehow!

    Thanks for the reply Dominic!
