Drag and Drop from Better bibtex working only in selected terminals

When I drag and drop items from Zotero to a file open in an editor, Better BibTex pastes the corresponding bibtex entry in it.

My editor is neovim, and the process works well if I use iTerm as a terminal. I tried with several other terminals, including Ghostty, and the drag/drop feature does not work. Note that Ghostty normally does accept drag/drop of files, which are turned into file paths.

Can anyone help me understanding why? One thing it would help is to know what sort of calls Better BibTex do on iTerm for it to work.
  • Nothing to do with BBT, or Zotero. Ghostty just doesn't seem to accept dragged text. You can try dragging text from any app that supports that — e.g., Firefox, Word, or iTerm — to the command line in iTerm and Ghostty. It works for the former and doesn't work for the latter. You'll need to ask the Ghostty developer. (Don't mention Zotero, since that would just confuse things. I would just talk about dragging text from a webpage in Firefox.)

Note that you can still just use the Quick Copy keyboard shortcut instead of drag-and-drop and do a regular paste into Ghostty.
  • Thank you very much, this is very helpful
