Mistake citing paper w/ same 1st Author and date

Hi! I am trying to cite 2 papers from 1996 with the same first author. Instead of adding letters a and b to the date (Monteiro et al., 1996a) and (Monteiro et al., 1996b) as I would expect, Zotero is instead adding the other authors. Both papers have the same 3 first authors, so the in text reference is huge and stops on the 4th author's name, because it is different. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thankss!!
  • This depends on the citation style. You can either switch to a different style or edit the current one.
  • For APA, e.g., the behavior you're seeing is correct.
