Upgrade Storagezotero7: managing tags is inconvenient
Zotero7 looks much better, but its usability regarding tag editing is worse than Zotero6.
Find some items and try to add a common tag to all of them: the experience is not easy due to the following:
- the Tags section in the item pane doesn't stay put. When you go to a new item, you have to reselect it
- You cannot just paste the tag on a new line. You have to click (+), paste the text, and press Enter (if you go somewhere else without pressing Enter, the tag is not added)
- You cannot add mutliple tags by pasting multiple lines. For me, this is the main way I collect tags: I copy keywords from the paper, put them in a text editor, replace ", " (or whatever the delimiter happens to be) with newlines, and paste multiple lines at once
- cannot drag an existing tag and drop it on some item. I'm pretty sure that was possible before

dstillmanedited December 19, 2024Double-click on the icon in the side navigation bar or right-click → Pin Section. It's saving properly when you click many places (e.g., another field of the item) but not all. We'll fix. That's working for me (Shift-Enter to save), but it does seem to be adding an additional tag with all of the lines concatenated. We'll fix. No, you're misremembering that. You drag items to tags, not vice versa.
