Use case for a "Collection" type in Zotero

Hi Zotero, I work with researcher press and journal selection comities for scientific purposes and digital corpora publication. For my Zotero use, I would need a "Collection" or "Journal" Types instead of "Book", "Journal article", "Book Chap". Here is why (Use Case)

In order to give my partners enough informations on which series they can or cannot digitize (according to our means and standards), I use Zotero + the "Book" Type + Notes and attachements in order to publish reports on dozens of journals different type of journals, with those necessary fields :

- Type : Collection
- Subtype : ie. Magazine (or ie "Revue scientifique" or "Presse Militante")
- (collective) author or scientific editor
- editor
- Publisher
- number of pages ;
- date (beginning aaa or mm-aaaa or jj-mm-aaaa) ;
- date (end, aaa or mm-aaaa or jj-mm-aaaa) ;
- ISSN ;
- sudoc Periscope url :
- sudoc PPN url :
- Digital Library Name and cover : Bibliothèque de Science Politique 1975-1987
- Digital Library Name and cover url :
- Dataprovider 1 location & state of collection ;
- Dataprovider 2 location & state of collection ;
- Dataprovider 3 location & state of collection ;
- Presentation
- ...

Here are the type of publications I'm dealing with (Political Science, Gender Studies, Educative Studies, etc.) :
- Journal collections (fr : Revue scientifique)
- Brochures collections (fr : Brochures)
- Activist newspapers collections (fr. Presse Militante)
- Scientifical Seminar publication series (fr : Actes de colloques)
- Scientifical Conference series (fr : Actes de colloques)

I don't need to reference all the numbers or article of those collection, because I already have them on an csv format for each collection, which I attach to my reference.
Thanks a lot for your help !

  • The CSL type for a full periodical is “periodical”. You can tell Zotero to cite an item as a “periodical” by entering this in Extra:
    type: periodical

    Note that most CSL styles have not been updated yet to specifically handle “periodical” types
