Zotero 7.0 no longer highlighting in LibreOffice

So I just had a clean install of my Linux PC (Manjaro) with LibreOffice Fresh and Zotero. Everything seems to work like I am used to. Sync is setup, the plugin works, I can select the style, create citations and add a bibliography.

However, last time I used it (few months ago) a newly added citation in my document (Inline, tested with Chicago and MLA) would be created with Reference Marks and thus would be highlighted so that it is clear to me where my citations are (and so they would be protected from just stupidly typing through em).

As of my new installation now (and I guess as of 7.0) this no longer works and my citations just show up as plain text. Zotero still recoginizes them as citations (the add/edit button correctly picks up the citation information) but the reference mark nor the highlighting is added to the document.

Is there any way to restore the behavior to how I am used that it worked? :-)
  • This is controlled in LibreOffice under View -> Field Shadings
  • Field shadings are enabled and have the default (gray-ish) color; however citation created with Zotero don't get that highlighting :-(

Ik get the feeling that the issue is more that Zotero doesn't seem to create the reference marks, which leads to not creating "fields" which then do not get the highlight.
  • In Zotero Document Preferences make sure that you have set Zotero to use ReferenceMarks and not Bookmarks for citations.
  • Hrm, I don't have the option for ReferenceMarks, only have the option to enable Bookmarks.

But pressing "switch to different word processor" and then restoring it back to LibreOffice when it prompts for that apparently reset it to it's original behavior and highlighting.

Weird stuff but it appears to be solved now. Classic "reset and retry" I guess :-)
    Thanks!
