Goodreads translator no longer detects books

On Goodreads, Zotero no longer detects book metadata, and falls back to the web page translator.

It looks like the Goodreads translator relies on a meta:isbn tag, which Goodreads no longer puts in the page.

  • Thanks, fixed. Your Zotero Connector should auto-update within a few minutes, or you can update manually by clicking Update Translators in the Advanced pane of the Zotero Connector preferences.
  • I’m still having this error, though I don’t know why. Trying to import https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/210613871-the-collected-poems-of-j-r-r-tolkien consistently results in "An error occurred saving with Goodreads. Attempting to save using Embedded Metadata instead.”

Curiouser and curiouser. That book still doesn’t work, but https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22397161-the-adventures-of-tom-bombadil-and-other-verses-from-the-red-book does…however, though it does create an entry, there’s no link back to Goodreads!

Also, the # of pages is not recorded.

Indeed, looking at various Goodreads imports, the translator seems to be very inconsistent, giving different results with different books—some fields missing, some duplicated, sometimes book descriptions recorded in the Abstract field, sometimes in notes, etc.
  • I’m seeing that the Goodreads translator does not in fact pull info from Goodreads, except the ISBN, which it then uses to find the information elsewhere. Is that really ideal behavior?

Also, it should at least (as the Amazon translator does) include a link back to the Goodreads page for the work.
