Style Editing: Compact bibliography with entries not separated by paragraphs

Can I edit a style, say IEEE so that each reference in the bibliography follows another in one paragraph?

I would also then like to bold the numbers and the brackets. Numbers are easy but how does one bold the brackets?

Perhaps there are existing styles of this type?

Needed to fit more into documents with very strict space (but not word/character) limits.

Thanks
  • Sorry, can't be done in CSL. You can, of course, single space a bibliography throughout, but there's always a paragraph break at the end of every bibliography entry.
    It's easy enough to convert this using search & replace after unlinking citations, of course, but I assume you've thought of that.
  • Thanks, definitely would help as grant writing is always a challenge of minute tweaking within tight space and the automated bibliography would be handy, but shall have to convert at the end as you suggest...

    To answer your bolding question, change line 310 (citation>>layout) to this:
    <layout font-weight="bold" delimiter=", ">

    This will make everything in the text bold, brackets+numbers+(locators).
