'Find full text' does not work with Zotero 7

edited 20 days ago
Firstly, congratulations on the Zotero update. Version 7 is a real upgrade!
But (there had to be a 'but'), with Zotero 7 I can't download any PDF.

I still have version 6 installed and I have no problems with it.

Are there any configurations that need to be done in version 7?
  • Can you provide a Debug ID for this from Zotero 6 and Zotero 7?
  • debug ID from Zotero 7: D334692569

debug ID from Zotero 6: D868758925

    thanks
  • That's working for me in Z7, but you're getting an error:
(3)(+0000001): Error downloading https://www.mdpi.com/2673-8392/1/1/15/pdf?version=1616063773: NotFoundError: Could not open the file at C:\Users\[…]\Zotero\storage\tmp-sbpNrZ\file.tmp
Are you running any third-party security software?

Yes, at EC we have an adapted digital environment with security reinforcements.
But both versions are installed on the same institution's computer. So I assume that something has changed in Zotero with regard to downloading files. If so, is it possible to get round this?
Or is it possible to know specifically what has changed between the two versions in this respect? So that I can check with my colleagues in IT to see if it's possible for us to get round the blockage.
  • Can anyone, please, help with this issue?

I have Zotero 6 and Zotero 7 installed in the same PC and the 'find full text' works perfectly in Z6 but not in Z7. I already contacted the IT helpdesk, but they couldn't find a way to make this work (see image below).

  • Does dragging a PDF to Zotero work (i.e. appears as an attachment and allows you to open it)? This looks like a permission issue to me, but hard to say.

    Thanks for your swift reply.

Yes, dragging a PDF works. The attachment appears and I can open it.
    Any thoughts?
  • To be clear, if you're still having trouble, this would be something with the specific security software your institution is running. That's why your IT department would need to troubleshoot it — checking security software logs, temporarily disabling the security software, etc. This obviously works in general for nearly every Windows user, so there's just not really anything we can do on our end.

You can also try the Zotero beta on the off chance that that makes a difference.
