Books and their chapters
Zotero has had the option around for a while that one can easily creates sections from a book, what a relief! With now all the chapters "flying around", it would be a nice option to "find" the book in ones collection that those chapters were from orginially. Given that the "Related" functionality that has been around even longer hasn't really developed into a very productive ecosystem of its own, I could see one way of identifying parent books by sorting by ISBN. Unfortunately, there is no "ISBN-column" available to add to the pane. Any other ideas?
Thanks and regards!
PS - for those asking "Why?". We are doing a systematic search and have many hundreds of entries relating to chapters; we also have data on some but not all "parent" books. If we now want to plan a field trip to the library to scan all these chapters, it would be cool if one could cut down walking time by being directed to the physical location of the parent book only and not: "Merde (bbep), I'd already copied that chapter from book X and put it back in storage, but alas I've just found another chapter from book X ..."

My workaround now is - just FYI, that there are workarounds:
- Work with Excel; how to do that?
- Create a custom citation style (mine is based on APA), tweaking with https://editor.citationstyles.org/visualEditor/;
- add an entry (the first one in order) under Layout->Conditional->Else->Group->Group as Type:Variable:ISBN;
- then alter the entry delimeters from , as in comma to some obscure symbol such as ยง
- Ctrl+Shift+C my selection in Zotero to the Excel worksheet and then
- have the pasted split by the obscure symbols.
- That leads to a sortable table on ISBN, lining up the chapter entries under the parent book.
So it can be done, but really not very pretty.
Would be nicer by e.g. having a column "ISBN" in the reference pane for sorting purposes, and: after Zotero 7 is now sound and valuable, perhaps invest in some better "Related" funtionality (as in e.g. selecting items and then calling some "related function" to make them related ...)
