Issues with reference style "Springer..."

I have changed the reference style used in a document to the following one https://www.zotero.org/styles/springer-basic-author-date-no-et-al-with-issue", which led to very inconsistent referencing (partly in-text, partly in FN). Is there any updated version of this particular reference style?
Thank you.

That wouldn't be an issue with the style (they can't be inconsistent in that way,)
Can you switch to any other style? What happens? Which style did you change from?
  • Thanks for the prompt reply. I changed from OSCOLA, and changing back to OSCOLA makes it all consistent again. However, I need the Springer style. I tried again, and - again - I get partly in-text citations (which is NOT what Springer wants), partly footnotes with the Springer style... Happy to send you the document if that helps?
  • Right, but try any other in-text style like APA and you'll see the same issue.
I'd guess you inserted citations in two different ways:
    1. Inserting the citation in the text and have Zotero create the Footnote (those will convert to in-text parenthetical citations)
    2. Inserting the Footnote with your word processor, than inserting the citation in the footnote (those will remain in footnotes, though the style will convert).

I don't think there's an automated way to convert the 2.) ones, though it may be possible to do this with a Word macro; seems like something an LLM might be able to help you come up with.
  • Oh I see. But I didn't understand your description of the right way of inserting the footnote then (under 2.)... What will I need to do??
  • As I say, I don't see an easy way to convert citations under 2 (or what do you mean by "the right way of inserting the footnote?). Depending on how many there are, copying the reference from the footnote to the text and then deleting the footnote might be the fastest.
If you have lots of footnotes, this is something that might be possible to automate using a Word Macro.
  • I see, thank you very much!
