Zotero APA 7th Edition Citation Style Issue in Word
Hi everyone,
I’m experiencing a problem with Zotero when using the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th edition citation style. In the Zotero style preview, the in-text citation and reference look correct, like this:
(Chen et al., 2020)
Chen, X., Xie, W., & Li, H. (2020). The spatial evolution process, characteristics and driving factors of traditional villages from the perspective of the cultural ecosystem: A case study of Chengkan Village. Habitat International, 104, 102250. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.habitatint.2020.102250
However, when I insert the citation in a Word document, it appears as:
(X. Chen et al., 2020)
It seems Zotero is adding the first author’s initials in the in-text citation in Word.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it? I’ve double-checked the APA 7th style settings, and everything seems fine in Zotero. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

bwiernikIf you have two different “Chen” authors you’re citing, it’s correct APA style to add initials
