Unable to cite on word document:the whole research paper pops up instead

Every time I try to cite from Zotero in a Word document, instead of citation, it brings the whole paper into the document. What could be the problem? why does it bring a big section of the research paper instead of the citation only?

    How exactly are you trying to cite? Be specific.

    Please assist me I could be doing it wrongly. In the first one above: In Word, I put my pointer there, then clicked Zotero and typed the topic. When I hit the enter key, instead of the in-text citation popping up, it brought the whole topic as a citation, as below. What could be the problem?

    Either you're citing an attachment/stored file directly or you just have very poor metadata for an item in Zotero. Look at the entry of the item you're citing in Zotero -- it should, e.g., have a date and a proper title and likely an author.
