Getting zotero NOT to install its extension (& thus Java) on libreoffice

I regularly use libreoffice and like many libreoffice users I do not want to install Java. Purging Java from libreoffice has consumed the hours of many of its open source coders. (Openoffice is an Oracle product, which was initially tightly wedded to Java, also an Oracle product)

I use zotero regularly, & I don't need the zotero extension in libre office. The zotero extension DOES require Java.

I remove the zotero extension in libreoffice, but every time I start zotero it _silently_ reinstalls the zotero extension in libreoffice. I see no way to get zotero NOT to do this. This then makes libreoffice give me this error message every time I open libreoffice again.

"LibreOffice requires a Java runtime environment (JRE) to perform this task. However, use of a JRE has been disabled. Do you want to enable the use of a JRE now?"

"this task" refers to the zotero extension. Is there a way in zotero to _disable_ the automatic reinstallation of the zotero extension in libreoffice?

thanks!

Running Windows 11, Zotero 7.0.9, Libre Office 24.8.3.2
  • Search for "openoffice" in the Config Editor in the Advanced pane of the Zotero settings and set extensions.zoteroOpenOfficeIntegration.skipInstallation to true.

(It shouldn't be automatically reinstalling on each restart, though — only on plugin version updates.)
